Crafting Table Guide
The Crafting Table is the only progression machine on your raft. The official game description says it outright: upgrade your Crafting Table to unlock better gear. Every wall, cannon, net and weapon you will ever want is gated behind table levels — this guide covers what each level unlocks and what to feed it.
Where the Crafting Table fits
You spawn with one table already placed on your starter pallet. It sits next to your captain’s chair and your chest. Two practical placement rules from raid casualties:
- Keep it reachable. You will need to dump wood into it while someone is banging on your door. Do not hide it behind a maze of your own walls.
- Keep it off the lip. Anything on the outer edge can be reached or knocked around during a boarding fight.
Table levels
| Level | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Level 1 | Starter recipes: basic floors, the first sword, fences and flags. Enough to expand one deck ring. |
| Level 2 | The workhorse tier — floors, walls, wall 2, doors, stairs, the tower, nets, the trash can and cannons all unlock here. The tutorial quest explicitly asks you to reach it. |
| Level 3 | Reinforced pieces and better weapons show up (reinforced walls, reinforced stairs, reinforced windows, reinforced sword, harpoon 2, turrets). Higher recipe rows display as locked until you upgrade. |
Whether a Level 4 exists has not been observed yet — the level three row was the highest locked tier seen in game so far.
The upgrade tab
Open the table and switch to the upgrade view. You will find four tracks, and they are the real progression spine of the game:
| Upgrade track | Effect |
|---|---|
| Crafting Table level | Unlocks higher recipe tiers |
| Chest | More storage for your loot (raid target number one — upgrade and protect it) |
| Raft Size | Raises how many pieces you can place. First level costs 180 wood |
| Raft Weapons | Raises how many cannons and turrets you can place. Costs 150 wood + 110 metal + 70 scrap |
What to feed it and when
- Early game: dump wood into the table itself, then nets (passive loot) and floors. Do not sit on stacks “for a mega build” — table tiers print the pieces that make mega builds possible.
- Mid game: walls, doors, stairs, then your first cannon. Cannons mostly cost metal, so stock barrels or steal from neighbors.
- Late game: reinforced everything, turrets, weapon upgrades.
In multiplayer crews, a team member who upgrades their table to Level 3 reported that the Level 3 recipes did not work for the squad — the working theory is that every crafting member needs their own table at the same level. The developer has not published the exact rule, so treat in-crew crafting levels as “highest table wins, but bring your own” until it’s patched. See the crew guide for the permission system around this.
